Why do some items cost more to ship?
Clothesboy works with partner suppliers in both the United States and Canada so we can offer the widest selection of boys' clothes anywhere. Where an item ships from affects what it costs to get it to your door — and we believe in showing you that cost honestly at checkout, never burying it or surprising you later.
Items that ship from the US — standard rates
Most of our catalog ships from inside the United States. These items use our standard US shipping rates, starting with Economy at $4.90.
Items that ship from Canada — $17.99 flat
Some of our suits, sets, and shoes come from our Canadian partner. At checkout those items show "Standard (ships from Canada)" at a flat $17.99. That rate covers two real costs:
- International shipping. A parcel crossing the US–Canada border travels farther and passes through two postal systems, which simply costs more than a domestic shipment.
- Tariffs, duties & customs fees. Goods imported into the United States can be subject to import duties and tariffs set by the US government, plus customs brokerage and processing fees charged to move them across the border. These charges change with trade policy and are outside our control.
Good news: the $17.99 flat rate is all-in at checkout. We bundle the estimated cross-border charges into that one rate, so you will not get a surprise bill from the carrier when your package arrives.
How you'll see it at checkout
- US items → standard rates (from $4.90)
- Canada items → "Standard (ships from Canada)" — $17.99 flat, no extra charges on delivery
- Mixed cart → both rates apply, one per group of items, shown clearly before you pay
Delivery times
US-shipped items typically arrive in 3–7 business days. Canada-shipped items typically take 5–10 business days, as they clear customs on the way. These are estimates — tracking is emailed to you as soon as your order ships.
